How We Automated a Two-Location Roofer's Payroll from JobNimbus
Greater Roofing Solutions spent 6–8 hours every pay period on payroll math their CRM already knew. Here's the system that gave those hours back — commissions, bonuses, weekly guarantees and all.
Every roofing company we talk to has a version of the same evening. The pay period closes, and somebody — usually the owner — sits down with JobNimbus open in one tab and a spreadsheet in the other, and starts cross-referencing. Which jobs closed. Which rep sold what. What the commission split was on that insurance job. Whether the new guy hit his weekly guarantee. Two hours in, the coffee’s cold and you’re double-checking a number you already checked.
Greater Roofing Solutions, a two-location roofing company in Alabama, was spending 6–8 hours every pay period in that exact chair. Every number they needed already lived in JobNimbus — every job, every payment, every rep. The data wasn’t the problem. Getting it out was.
What we built
The system runs on the JobNimbus API, and the short version is: the data your crew already enters does the office work.
Job and payment sync. Every job and payment in JobNimbus flows automatically into a structured database — no exports, no copy-paste. Insurance and retail work stay segmented, and both locations feed the same system with their numbers kept separate where it matters.
Payroll that calculates itself. Commissions compute from real job data — including the messy parts that make roofing payroll genuinely hard: split commissions between reps, tiered bonus structures, and a weekly guarantee that reconciles against actual earnings automatically. The owner’s job changed from building payroll to approving it.
Review requests on job close. When a job hits the right status, the review request goes out. No one has to remember, which is exactly why it works — the companies with 200+ Google reviews aren’t more diligent, they’re more automated.
A live dashboard on top. Contracted jobs, cash collected, cost per acquisition, and rep-level performance across both locations — updating on a schedule, readable from a phone. The monthly “how are we actually doing?” question became a glance instead of a project.
The result
Payroll that took most of a day now takes minutes — checked by a human, computed by a system. And because the same data pipeline powers the dashboard and the review automation, the payroll fix quietly upgraded the whole back office.
That’s the part most owners don’t expect: payroll is rarely just a payroll problem. It’s the loudest symptom of data trapped in a CRM. Free the data once and everything downstream — reporting, reviews, forecasting — gets cheaper to build.
Could your JobNimbus do this?
Almost certainly. If your crew enters jobs and payments into JobNimbus today, the raw material exists — the build is the translation layer between how your account is set up (your statuses, your job types, your commission rules) and the automations on top.
We wrote up exactly what that looks like on our JobNimbus integration page, and the bigger picture for roofing companies — websites, Google Ads, the whole connected system — lives on the roofing page.
